What is it? Many contracts will require the contractor to take out ‘all risks’ insurance to cover reinstatement of the works in the event of some form of disaster.
What do I need to know? Possibly most notably, ‘all risks’ will cover different risks depending upon what the policy says. So for example, the cover often won’t include pre-existing structural issues, or errors in design. Different policies might have different exclusions. So – it might not be all risks after all!
