Fatima Balfaqeeh

Fatima Balfaqeeh is a UAE Qualified Lawyer, independent Arbitrator, Mediator, and a Business Consultant.
Her career began two decades ago in government and semi-government entities in Abu Dhabi, leading contracts and procurement function. She has worked extensively within commercial, legal and operational matters across a wide array of sectors, including construction-related fields, governance enforcement in contracts and procurement, project-related finance, payables, and banking credit facilities for corporate clients.

In 2018, Fatima launched her own consultancy which later evolved as a law firm. She is a Chartered Arbitrator of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb), a Member of RICS as a chartered Facilities Management Surveyor, and a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply Chain (CIPS).
She also is a board member in the ICC-UAE, the Vice Chair of the ICC UAE’s Commission on Arbitration & ADR Steering Committee, and a board member on the World Regional Board of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS).

Khushboo Shahdadpuri, Al Tamimi & Company

Ranked as a future leader in arbitration by Who’sWhoLegal and Rising Star by Legal500, Khushboo is a dual qualified lawyer admitted to practice in Singapore and the State of New York. Khushboo’s practice focuses on international dispute resolution. She has represented conglomerates, state entities, employers, contractors and sub-contractors in construction, infrastructure, energy, oil & gas, real estate, corporate and shipping disputes.

Khushboo has worked on gas pipelines, solar power plants, World Cup stadiums and other prominent development projects, where the value of the dispute has exceeded USD 1 billion. She frequently works with experts from a number of disciplines, such as delay, quantum, structural, MEP and architectural. She also works with local counsel on arbitration-related litigation matters.

Khushboo speaks and publishes regularly on international arbitration. She serves as Associate Editor in Kluwer Arbitration Blog where she oversees the MENA and India regions, is Regional Lead for Europe, the Middle East and Africa in the YSIAC Council and a Global Steering Committee Member of the Equal Representation of Expert Witnesses (ERE). She is also the MENA representative for the Energy Disputes Arbitration Centre, committee member of the Law Society (Singapore) and has been appointed to the editorial board of several esteemed journals.

Sam Karim KC, Gatehouse Chambers

Sheikh Mohammed Samiul Karim KC (Sam Karim KC) is dynamic silk who has been consistently regarded as a leading practitioner by the legal directories. His specialist areas are four-fold:

International arbitration in which he acts as counsel and sits as panel or sole arbitrator: procurement, judicial review/human rights and court of protection. Sam is a member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and is admitted as a practitioner in the Dubai International Finance Centre (DIFC) Court and the Abu Dhabi Global Markets (ADGM). Sam is also a panel arbitrator for the ADGM and the International Islamic Centre for Reconciliation.
