Everywhere you look at the moment, AI is being used to create marketing content. Graphics, LinkedIn posts, blogs, emails… the list goes on. Don’t get me wrong, AI is incredibly useful. It speeds things up, helps when you’re staring at a blank page, and is brilliant for businesses that don’t have a dedicated marketing team.

But as AI becomes more accessible, I’m starting to notice something. Everything is beginning to look the same.

Scroll through LinkedIn for 5 minutes and you’ll probably see what I mean. The graphics all have the same orange glow. They’re packed with text. Every headline sounds oddly familiar. The wording is almost identical. Even the layouts feel like they’ve come from the same template.

Where’s YOUR Personality?

If you’re trying to build a business, why would you want to look like every other business? Your marketing should tell people who you are. Instead, many companies are unknowingly building the same brand as everyone else. Before long, people don’t remember your business. They just remember that it looked like another AI post.

The businesses we remember all have something distinctive. McDonald’s doesn’t need to write its name for you to recognise the red and yellow. Every Christmas, a red-suited Santa still makes millions of people think of Coca-Cola.

It’s not just the colours. It’s consistency. Those brands have a signature. Something instantly recognisable. That’s exactly what many businesses lose when every graphic is generated in the same way.

Simple is the Best

One thing I’ve noticed is that AI often tries to do too much. The graphics are busy. The text is crammed in. There are icons everywhere. Everything is shouting for attention. Ironically, the biggest brands usually do the opposite. Simple layouts. One clear message. Plenty of space.

AI isn’t Always Right

Another thing people forget is that AI only works with the information it has.

It gets things wrong. Sometimes it’s obvious. Someone has six fingers. A face looks slightly distorted. Other times it’s more subtle. A fact isn’t quite right. A statistic is out of date. A sentence sounds convincing but isn’t actually true.

Or worse, you accidentally end up using wording that’s far too close to someone else’s work without even realising it.

Has AI Made us Lazy?

This is probably the controversial bit. AI has made a lot of us lazy. Instead of thinking creatively, brainstorming ideas or trying something different, it’s easy to ask AI to do it instead.

But creativity is what makes businesses memorable. Your ideas. Your experiences. Your personality. They’re the things AI can’t replicate. Use AI to support you not replace you.

So, it’s Worth Asking Yourself a Few Simple Questions.

Do I actually need AI for this?

Or could I spend 5 minutes doing it myself?

If the answer is yes, then great. You’ll probably end up with something that feels more authentic and reflects your business better.

So, what should you do instead?

If you’re creating graphics for LinkedIn or your business, don’t overcomplicate it.

Start with a good Canva template and make it your own. Use high-quality imagery from sites such as Unsplash (making sure you have the correct usage rights). Keep your branding consistent, your message clear and your designs simple.

And if marketing isn’t your thing, ask for help. That doesn’t mean hiring a full-time marketing team. Sometimes all you need is support with your LinkedIn content, graphics or website.

At Limeslade, that’s exactly what we do. We create content every day helping businesses build a recognisable brand and stand out from their competition. Whether you need someone to create a few graphics each month or support your wider marketing strategy, we’re here to help.
